TK-K Grandparent Luncheon
In the fall, Village hosted a very special event—the Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten (K) Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Luncheon. Guests traveled from near and far to be part of this Village tradition, and the students were eager to share their school experience with some of the most special people in their lives.
Over 100 guests attended and when they arrived, they were greeted with a warm welcome from parent volunteers and school staff before enjoying a delicious lunch. Guests were then entertained by all the TK and K students. The children were adorable as they enthusiastically sang a few songs that brought joy to their audience. After the performance, the students returned to their classrooms where they were joined by their grandparents and special friends. In the classrooms, they proudly shared what they were doing at school before they worked with their grandparents and special friends on a fun, hands-on project that their visitors could take home. It was indeed a day to remember for all!
Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day
On May 25, 2017, Village School hosted beloved grandparents and dear friends who traveled from near and far to learn more about the Village School experience. It fortified the bond between home and school which is core to the school’s mission. Vin Di Bona, grandparent to two current Village School students and a Village School alumnus, shared with the gathering some touching anecdotes as a grandparent. It was the perfect way to commence the day.
All the students looked forward to sharing some of their accomplishments with pride and excitement. Each grade shared a particular project such as the Living Wax Museum staged by third grade; fifth graders presented their State Reports and accompanying dioramas.
In the gym, grandparents and special friends also saw the magnificent Art Show and the very interesting science projects at the Science Fair. With delicious refreshments, performances by the Village School Singers, classroom visits and Book Fair all taking place in one morning, there was a very festive atmosphere creating wonderful memories for both our students and our cherished Village School extended family!
