John Evans has spent nearly three decades in elementary education. He began his career in the classroom, teaching second, third, and fourth grade at Willows Community School and at Trinity School on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. He went on to serve as Division Head of the Lower School — 450 students strong — at Friends Seminary in Manhattan before joining Village School as Head of School.
John is a Trustee of the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) and serves as Vice President and Trustee of the Elementary School Heads Association (ESHA), a national organization for leaders of K-6 and K-8 schools across the country.
Outside of school, John swims every day and can rarely resist an open dance floor. He lives with his husband, Bill, with whom he enjoys fierce games of Scrabble and hosting game nights for friends. Their daughter, Dylan, is a sophomore at Scripps College and a Division 1 Rugby player.
Dr. Kenzo Bergeron serves as the Assistant Head of School for Academic Programs, Equity, and Belonging at Village School, where he has been a dedicated leader and educator since 2017. As the son of a classroom teacher and a graphic comic book artist, Dr. Bergeron learned early on that teaching is an art, one that is most powerful when active, collaborative, and deeply connected to students’ lived experiences. Grounded in a constructivist educational philosophy, his leadership centers on fostering academic rigor, curiosity, and an authentic sense of belonging for every student.
Throughout his tenure at Village, Kenzo has held several leadership roles, including Director of Teaching, Learning, Equity, and Inclusion, Lead Math Specialist, and classroom teacher. In these roles, he has spearheaded programmatic innovations that elevate the student experience, including the creation of the Math Lab, which integrates contemporary research into classroom instruction to drive measurable gains in student learning.
At the heart of Kenzo’s leadership is a commitment to the daily work of teaching and learning. He works closely with faculty to refine instructional practices and oversees the management of student academic profiles from year to year, helping ensure continuity in each student’s educational journey. He also uses academic performance data and standardized testing results to inform curricular and programmatic changes that strengthen academic rigor and student engagement across grade levels.
Kenzo holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership for Social Justice from Loyola Marymount University and is an active contributor to the broader educational community. He has completed a fellowship with the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and the California Teacher Development Collaborative (CATDC). His scholarship has been published by Routledge and presented at the American Educational Research Association and USC Rossier School of Education.
TJ Harney serves as Chief Financial and Operating Officer at Village, where he oversees the school’s financial and operational functions in support of its mission and long-term sustainability. With more than 20 years of nonprofit experience in finance and operations, including over a decade serving independent schools, TJ is a strategic advisor to the Head of School and Board of Trustees.
His responsibilities include finance and accounting, budgeting, investments, human resources, payroll and benefits, facilities, information technology, transportation, security, emergency preparedness, risk management, insurance, regulatory compliance, and administrative operations.
TJ attended the University of Redlands, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and later a Master of Business Administration. He also holds the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) credential and currently serves as a board member of the Hill and Dale Family Learning Center.
An LA native, Veronica joined Village in 2024. With more than fifteen years of experience in independent schools, she is passionate about storytelling and using her creativity to celebrate the people and programs at Village.
As Director of Communications, Veronica oversees school-wide strategic marketing and communications, branding, publications, digital communications, media relations, crisis communications, and messaging in support of admissions, advancement, and school-wide initiatives.
Veronica is a graduate of UCLA (B.A.) and Johns Hopkins University (M.A. in Communications and Public Relations). She’s fluent in English and Russian and enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, traveling, and impromptu discussions about film, television, music, and pop culture.
Jordan has been a dedicated member of the Village School community since 2021 and serves as the Director of Teaching and Learning and Secondary School Placement. As Director of Teaching and Learning, she works closely with faculty and school leadership to ensure a strong, cohesive academic program that supports both student success and teacher growth. Through instructional leadership, curriculum development, faculty coaching, professional development, and the implementation of assessment and reporting systems, Jordan helps maintain a high-quality learning experience across the school.
As Director of Secondary School Placement, she works closely with John and Village’s sixth grade families to guide students through the secondary school placement process and ensure a seamless transition as they graduate from Village. In her role, Jordan is the primary point of contact for matters related to secondary school placement, ISEE administration, curriculum, teaching and learning, report cards, academic assessments, teacher support and development, classroom practices, and the overall implementation of Village School’s academic program.
Jordan holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Clark University and spent 12 years as a classroom teacher prior to joining the Leadership Team at Village. Outside of her professional life, Jordan loves spending time with her two sons and trying new restaurants with her husband.
Ashley Mooney has been part of the Village community for nearly 15 years, first as a parent and trustee and now as Director of Admissions. Having spent her own K-12 years in Los Angeles independent schools, Ashley has long understood the important role a school can play in the life of a family. After working in politics and the entertainment industry, she returned to her independent school roots, serving as Director of Admissions and a seventh grade advisor at The Archer School for Girls before joining Village.
As Director of Admissions at Village, Ashley leads all aspects of the admissions process, from inquiry through enrollment, helping to advance the school’s mission, strengthen and sustain its community, and support long-term enrollment growth. She oversees outreach to prospective families and other external constituencies, parent and student evaluation, new family onboarding, and retention efforts. In addition, she works closely with the Advancement Office on Village marketing initiatives.
A parent of two Village alumni, Ashley received her B.A. from Tufts University.
Sara Singsank serves as Village School's Director of Advancement for Community Engagement and Philanthropy and is a member of the Leadership Team. She brings a unique perspective to her work as both a school leader and an independent school parent, giving her firsthand insight into the experiences, opportunities, and questions families encounter throughout their educational journey.
Having witnessed Village through many seasons of growth, change, and transformation, Sara brings a deep appreciation for the school's history, traditions, and community values. She is passionate about building authentic relationships and fostering a culture of generosity, belonging, and partnership. Drawing on both her professional experience and parent perspective, she creates meaningful opportunities for families, alumni, grandparents, donors, and friends to connect with and support the Village community.
As Director of Advancement for Community Engagement and Philanthropy, she oversees the Village Fund, capital campaign initiatives, donor relations, parent engagement, alumni and grandparent programs, volunteer leadership, community events, and communications.
Originally from Washington, D.C., Sara received her B.A. from George Mason University.
