The Village Approach: A Partnership With Families

We welcome your interest in Village School! Our approach is intentionally child and family centered, and our goal is for you to explore our school and community in comfortable and transparent ways that will allow you to discover how Village might be a good fit. We designed the admissions process to provide multiple opportunities to visit campus, speak candidly with students and parents, and experience the curriculum and programs. Your child's unique strengths will guide the process as we partner with you in pursuit of our common objective: finding an environment where they will be happy and thrive, and where you will find a home among like minded parents.

At Village, the admissions process is not a game or an exercise in ego—it’s about a child beginning what will be a transformative and magical educational experience, and finding the school that will be the best place for that journey to take flight.

Why Village?

Meet the Admissions Office

Ashley Mooney,
DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS

Ashley has been part of the Village community for over a decade- starting as a parent and trustee, and now as Director of Admissions. She spent her own K-12 years in Los Angeles independent schools, and after stints in the political and entertainment realms, returned to her roots. Prior to Village, she was at Archer where she served as the Admissions Director and a 7th grade advisor.

Why Village? I chose Village for my own kids because they only had one childhood and I wanted them to spend it in a school that understood that. Now, on the other side of the curtain, I feel a big responsibility to help families discover their “why” and grow our Village community with intention and purpose.

Favorite Village tradition: Monday Morning Meetings–it’s such a beautiful way to start the week as an entire community. I especially love getting to know all the younger siblings who come.

What Village students think you should know about her: “There are three days of the year that she hands out chocolate–but you have to know what they are!”  —Molly S.

Teresa Coe, Admissions Associate & Flexible Tuition Coordinator

When you call the admissions office, it will likely be Teresa that you hear. She has been the voice of Village admissions for nearly 20 years. A Los Angeles native and parent of three children who attended independent schools, she supports prospective families throughout the entire admissions process in addition to coordinating the flexible tuition program ensuring that more families have access to the Village experience.

Why Village? What stands out to me at Village is how deeply every child is known, respected, and truly valued. This is the kind of place. you dream of for your kids and why I feel lucky to be a part of helping families find their way here.

Favorite Village tradition: Family Circle–I love seeing kids of all ages come together in small, mixed grade groups to connect with adults on campus through activities that build character, kindness, and real community. It's a beautiful reminder that everyone belongs.

What Village students think you should know about her: “She has a typewriter in her office that you can use to write notes to your friends.” —John D.
