Kaila Elsayegh, Class of 2019

“As I am about to enter the Upper School at Marlborough, I reflect upon the years leading up to this point and I can’t help but smile at the great fondness I have for my time at Village School. The foundation that Village has built for me has allowed me to flourish and grow into the person I have become, strong and independent with fiercely loyal roots grounding me always.

I am working hard to progress my golf game. Luckily, due to the individuality of my sport, I was able to play competitively through most of the pandemic. In August of 2020, I won an AJGA Open Event, followed by a third place finish at National Championships in the 14-18 Year Old Division the following year. As I move into 10th grade, I hope to continue the exciting process of college recruiting. My goals for the next few years are to commit to a college and play Division-1 golf.

When grappling with the daunting task of finding a college, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and anxious. But as I think about the elements of my future college that I want, I am immediately reminded of reasons why I loved Village School and Marlborough so much. The fostering of ideas and collaboration, the sense of inclusivity, and the ability to look to your left and right and have a deep feeling that the people around you truly care about the well-being and development of the person you are becoming.”
