Service Learning

Service Learning at Village is designed to enlighten students of their potential to have a positive effect on the wider world. Our students look at real life problems found in their local, national, and global communities and work together to find solutions. A dynamic cycle of action and reflection provides for hands on community service experiences and significant raised awareness. Service Learning Club meetings are planned and led by passionate and dedicated faculty to further support classroom lessons. Parents partner in day of activities, sourcing organizations to support, and planning school-wide events.

An example was during 2021-2022 when our Service Learning lens was through the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) focusing on impact within our school, as well as, within our local and global communities. Students worked on short-term projects diving deep into the following six of SDGs: Partnerships for the SDGs , Sustainable Cities and Communities, Reduced Inequalities, Quality Education, Life on Land, and Life Below.
