Kindergarten

The kindergarten program establishes the foundation for the rest of a child’s career at Village School. They are introduced to reading and writing models that inspire student voice, enthusiasm, and confidence while cultivating their understanding of key facets of literacy and phonics. They are exposed to a variety of mathematical concepts through the Everyday Math program, challenging them with real world problem solving. Children compare and contrast nine nations as part of a global exploration "traveling" to three continents throughout the year. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) units introduce them to the hands-on exploration and lines of inquiry that define our science program from 1st to 6th grade.  Our three classroom model provides each Kindergartner with the time and attention they need to grow as a learner and a friend.
The Kindergarten program is engaging and challenging.  It includes a rich array of specialist classes in addition to core academics. Students visit library, performing arts, visual arts, physical education & wellness, DREAM Studio, and Spanish classes on a regular basis.  They also have weekly time in the Math Lab to broaden their mathematical knowledge and reasoning skills.
